Each year millions of Americans tackle the annual ritual of making a New Year's resolution — some succeed and many stumble. What's the secret to sticking with it? If you're like me, you've probably squeezed getting and/or staying fit somewhere into your resolution for 2009. But, do we really need to dedicate a resolution to getting fit? Shouldn't it be part of our lifestyle? Easier said than done.
For me, exercise has become part of my daily routine and, according to my workout log or my "little black book", as I like to call it, I only missed eight days of working out in 2008 — walking to the mailbox counts, right? Honestly, I visit the Welch Allyn Fitness Center twice a day and, while striding on the elliptical I also read three newspapers to keep myself up-to-date on current news and trends — why not kill two birds with one stone. This year lets make a resolution we can keep — let's resolve not to make any more new year's resolutions. Now wasn't that easy? Happy New Year! |
